BlueRock Energy Raises $51,000 at Annual Save the Skin Golf Tournament

CNY CEO and Local Community Leads Fundraising Efforts to Find a Cure for Melanoma

BlueRock Energy, a total energy solutions provider of utility products, renewable resources and energy efficiency services, located in Syracuse, New York, hosted more than 165 guests at its 4th Annual Save the Skin Golf Tournament and Dinner Fundraiser. Held at Beaver Meadows Golf Club yesterday, the event raised more than $51,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.

With 144 golfers from over sixty different companies, Save the Skin is a prime example of Central New York coming together to support a crucially important cause. Local Syracuse businesses actively engaged in the fundraising efforts by donating items for the Silent Auction and Raffle giveaways and contributing to Save the Skin’s generous monetary donation of $51,000.

“This is now four consecutive years we have beaten our previous fundraising records. I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone in this community who contributed and helped raise awareness,” says Phil VanHorne, BlueRock Energy CEO and President. “Melanoma is one of the deadliest forms of skin cancer.  We are dedicated to educating others, raising awareness and funding the critical research needed to stop this disease.”

Last year, the golf tournament was able to share a $47,000 donation between the Melanoma Research Foundation and Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, in Buffalo, NY, where VanHorne was treated for his skin cancer. Save the Skin operates on a 100 percent volunteer basis, with all net proceeds going directly to the cause. Since its inception in 2014, Save the Skin Foundation has donated over $91,000. This year’s event brings the fundraising total to over $142,000 in just four years.
