BlueRock Energy raises $47,000 to find a cure for melanoma

CNY CEO and local community exceed previous fundraising efforts at Third Annual “Save the Skin” Fundraiser

BlueRock Energy, an award-winning energy solutions company, hosted over 140 guests at its third annual “Save the Skin” Golf Tournament and Dinner Fundraiser at Beaver Meadows Golf Club on Monday 8th August, raising more than $47,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation – $10,000 more than they made during their record-breaking event in 2015.

With golfers from the Buffalo Bills office, Brooklyn Nets office, Steiner Sports and VIPs such as Gerry McNamara, “Save the Skin” is a prime example of Central New York coming together to support a crucially important cause. Local Syracuse businesses, including Russo Produce, WB Mason, P.R. Quinlan and the Business Council of CNY actively engaged in the fundraising efforts by donating items for the Silent Auction and Raffle giveaways and contributing to BlueRock’s generous monetary donation of $47,000.

“We’re thrilled to have raised an additional $10,000 this year and can now donate $47,000 to the Melanoma Research Foundation. The focus of this event is generating awareness, promoting education and ultimately raising funds so together, we can one day find a cure for Melanoma, a disease that takes thousands of lives each year,” says Phil VanHorne, BlueRock Energy President and CEO.

“On behalf of my team, I’d like to thank all the local businesses and community for coming together and taking a step closer to finding a cure for Melanoma. We look forward to raising even more money in 2017.”
